Hdc2tog--Half Double Crochet Two Together--Yarn over (YO) hook, insert hook into stitch (st), pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook.  YO hook, insert hook into next st, pull up a loop, 5 loops on hook. YO hook, pull through all 5 loops on hook.

Pull up a loop, Three loops on hook

Insert Hook in st

YO
Pull up a loop, 5 loops on hook

  5. I am working a pattern that uses hdc2tog. I have worked the row from left to right. Now I am ready to turn and work back. Do I do hdc2tog or regular hdc? The pattern doesn't say

  6. I am working a pattern with hdc2tog do I insert hook in first st after ch 2 or second st?

    1. The first stitch. You insert in the first st for scs and hdcs, the second st for the rest of the stitches.

  7. Thanks for the help of this stitch. Used sc2tog before but not the hdc2tog. Thanks for the excellent explanation and the pictures. I needed this stitch in a knee high sock pattern that I'm following and I didn't know how to do this stitch, thanks so much!
