Peacock Scarf

National Guard Afghan Chart

I've gotten several requests for a National Guard Emblem Afghan, so here it is.  This afghan is 227 stitches across and 217 rows high. With an I hook and worsted weight yarn I measured my gauge at 4 stitches and 4 rows per inch, so this afghan would be approximately 56 3/4"x54 1/4" when finished.

I realize there's no way you could crochet this afghan from this tiny picture, so if you want the chart email me at crochetparfaitpg@yahoo.com.  Let me know what format you want it in.  (Excel--editable .xlsx, Adobe .pdf or picture .png,  I recommend the .xlsx or .png files because the pdf splits it up into several pages.)


I've found some tutorials for different methods of doing Tapestry Crochet.  If you are really talented (and somewhat ambidextrous) you can switch the hook to your left hand when you get to the end of the row and then crochet back the way you came like Carol Ventura does.  I think this tutorial by Interweave is a little easier if you want to keep all of the design facing the same direction. This  video tutorial by Red Heart Yarn has you turn the afghan as you crochet, it's easier but the design is not as true.

Y'all Have Been Busy!!

Linda E just sent me this picture of her finished Black Hawk Afghan  She says, "I knitted the Blackhawk emblem from the Black Hawk Afghan Chart and then added crocheted strips to create the afghan. I'm so happy with how it turned out."

Just the Logo

Here is a personalized Harley afghan.  Lorrie L just decided to use the logo and then made and orange and white border.  Lorrie says she used the Afghan stitch in all black, then she single crocheted the 6 rows of each color all around edges for border.  Then she cross stitched the logo.
