Windsong sent me a picture of her Yorkies, they even have their own personalities! If you would like to make your own Yorkie you can find the pattern here.
Sandi just sent me this picture of the Yorkie she made along with the following questions:
1. What does "amigurumi" mean? I think from your comment it is Japanese. Just curious. I looked it up but could not find it.
Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting cute (emphasis on the CUTE) stuffed animals. Ami translates as crochet or knitted and Nuigurumi means stuffed doll.
2. The Yorkie's eyes came with backings. Did you attach yours with backing. I wish I had but following the pattern - I stuffed and attached without thinking about the eyes.
I actually used round black buttons with shanks so I was able to sew my eyes on after I put the doll together. What Sandi used are Safety Eyes. These are best when you are making a toy for a small child, that way they don't come off. Safety eyes have to be attached before you stuff the head. Here is a video tutorial on how to attach safety eyes.
3. I had to order the shimmer online because where I live no one heard of it or did not have it. I know that this is not your problem but it was a learning experience.
If you don't have shimmer yarns available where you live, you can order Red Heart Shimmer online from Redheart.com or Vanna's Glamour from Lionbrand.com.
And here is a tip from Sandi on how to attach the yarn for the hair:
I attached mine by measuring the strands -Then I folded one strand in half - inserted my hook through Yorkie- pulled the folded strand through and bought the ends through the loop that was formed. Then I tightened the thread.
If you would like to make your own Yorkie you can find the pattern here.
Jill just sent me this picture of the adorable Yorkie she just finished. She made it for her 8 year old daughter, but she's having a hard time parting with it!
. If you would like to make this cute pattern, you can find it HERE.
Novice Sandy on Knitting Paradise found this absolutely adorable pattern for an Amigurumi Yorkie. The only problem is the pattern is incomprehensible. I think it was originally written in Japanese and the translation is really bad. Fortunately, I have crocheted some amigurumi patterns using the Japanese chart method so I get what's going on here, so here is my translation. I did have to change a few things here and there, but I think it's pretty true to the original pattern.

Now start to attach embroidery floss and shimmer yarn. I used full strands. If you want to anchor the hair so it won't fall out, here is a good tutorial on how to do doll hair.
It helps to have a picture of a Yorkie. Here is a good photo or you can use the photo on the original pattern.
Embroider the nose.
I've had some questions about how to sew on the fur that is pulled up between the ears, so I'm adding this to help with this question.
Attach yarn at the bottom of the snout for the hair that is pulled up between the ears.
Once you have enough yarn attached, pull it up between the ears and use some attached yarn by the ears to tie the yarn up.
Trim floss to make it even
Sew some yarn at the base of the snout and pull it back between the ears and then tie it back. You can also use ribbon. Then sew on the buttons for the eyes.
Here's how it looks from the back. The black fur is the black shimmer yarn.
